I was inspired to paint this view point of Denali a few months after I summited Denali with my best friend in May of 2025. The original was painted from a reference photo by photographer Joe McAneney from Talkeetna, Alaska. Both the Map and the view point painted of Denali show the West buttress route that myself and many others have climbed. Camps 3 (14k) & 4 (17k) are visible in this image. I painted the image over the top of Bradford Washburn’s iconic map of Denali.
